WILLS AND ESTATES

Preparing a Will ensures that upon death an estate will be distributed in accordance with the wishes of the deceased and provide security for the deceased’s loved ones.  In the event that one dies without a Will, or what is known as Intestate, the Court will appoint an executor for the Estate who will then distribute the estate in accordance with the law, being the Succession Law Reform Act. This may not be what you would have preferred and will be more costly of a procedure for your loved ones.

 

An important decision to make with respect to your Will, is who will be your Estate Trustee or Executor/Executrix. The Estate Trustee will administer the Estate, which includes paying any debts of the Estate and make sure the beneficiaries receive their entitlements as indicated in the Will.  Choosing your Estate Trustee is an important decision.  One or more individuals may act in this capacity.  The lawyers at Epstein & Associates are prepared to sit down with you and discuss this very important decision in addition to the myriad of other choices you will need to make, in order to ensure that your will reflects your wishes.
