A rebate of up to $3,725 may apply to first-time purchasers of both new and resale homes in Toronto. This means a full rebate for first-time buyers of homes valued at $400,000 or less.

For first time purchasers
(Ontario Land Transfer Tax Rebate):

On December 13, 2007, proposed amendments to the Land Transfer Tax Act were announced in the 2007 Ontario Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review. The Land Transfer Tax Refund Program for First-Time Homebuyers in Ontario is expanded to include purchases of resale homes. The maximum refund is $2000. This proposal to include resale homes would be effective for agreements of purchase and sale entered into after December 13, 2007.
