This process focuses on cooperation, not confrontation.   The Collaborative process aims to help the parties understand each others’ concerns and common interests without the threat of Court.

Epstein & Associates has lawyers trained and experienced in Collaborative Family Law that are committed to helping you resolve your family law matter through the Collaborative Process.  We have been involved with the York Collaborative Practice and sit as Board Members since its inception.

How is Collaborative Family Law different?

The Court process is adversarial and places parties against one another in a confrontational manner.  Collaborative Law is a group effort that employs interest based negotiation techniques.  The focus is determining the needs and interests of each party and to work toward a resolution that meets each parties’ needs as best as possible.  The goal is to have each party’s needs met.  Parties enter a Participation Agreement and commit to the Collaborative Process thereby removing the threat of Court.  An overwhelming number of Family Court matters settle before Trial; why not start with the premise of settlement and work toward a common goal in an effort to maintain your family’s values, assets and civility.
