MARK A. EPSTEIN

MARK A. EPSTEIN attended York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School. While at Osgoode Hall, Mr. Epstein was an active member of the Community and Legal Aid Services Programme, a service providing legal assistance to those who would not otherwise afford representation. Mark was also a founding member of the Small Claims Court Information Clinic at the Toronto Small Claims Court, assisting the public with Court forms and procedure.
After graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School, Mr. Epstein articled with a boutique commercial litigation firm in Toronto. During his articles he attended to Master's Court motions, numerous Small Claims Court trials and assisted senior counsel at the Court of Appeal. Upon being called to the Bar, Mark practised Personal Injury at a downtown Toronto law firm.
In early 2004, Mark moved to York Region and expanded his practise areas to include Family Law. Mr. Epstein's practise now focuses on all areas of Family Law, such as Custody, Access, Separation Agreements, varying Court Orders and Property Division. He is also trained in Collaborative Family Law, a process dedicated to resolving family disputes through negotiation. Mark is a current Board Member of the York Collaborative Practice and has negotiated numerous cases to the satisfaction of his clients. In addition to these areas, Mr. Epstein practises Real Estate, Corporate Law and Commercial/Civil Litigation.
In 2005, Mr. Epstein co-founded the partnership of Epstein Brown LLP and the traditions of the former partnership continue at Epstein & Associates.
Mark is a member of the York Region Law Association and Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. He currently resides in York Region with his wife and two sons. He is available for a free initial half-hour consultation, evenings by appointment.

In 2005, Mr. Epstein opened his own practise in Newmarket.  He has since expanded to include branch offices in Richmond Hill in 2009 and in Scarborough in 2011.

Mark is a member of the York Region Law Association and Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. He currently resides in York Region with his wife and two sons. He is available for a free initial half-hour consultation, evenings by appointment.

Jennifer L. Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Queen’s University and she received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto. After graduating, Ms. Wright articled with a small,civil litigation firm in Kingston, Ontario, where she practiced for two years after being called to the Ontario Bar.
After moving to York Region in 2002, Ms. Wright began working in the legal publishing field. She has acted as a legal editor for several prominent law reports and a newspaper for the legal profession and it was in this role that she developed a strong foundation in the law and legal research. Ms. Wright returned to private practice in 2011 when she joined Epstein & Associates and currently practices Family Law, Real Estate Law and can assist with the preparation of your Wills and Powers of Attorney.
Ms. Wright is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the York Region Law Association. She resides in Aurora, Ontario with her husband and two children. When Jennifer is not practising law, she is physically active either doing aerobics or spending time outdoors with her family. Jennifer is currently in charge of Research and Development at Epstein & Associates, which amongst other things holds her responsible for the firm’s online blogs.

Su-Lin Siew obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations from The University of Western Ontario. She went on to attend at both Lund University in Sweden and Queens University in Kingston, Ontario where she obtained her Masters of Public Administration, concurrently with a Bachelor of Laws.

Following her graduation, Ms. Siew articled with the Department of Justice, advising on various issues including Child Custody and Access, Human Rights laws and National Family and Child Policies. She appeared before various Tribunals and provided extensive litigation support to senior counsel.

Su-Lin joined Mr. Epstein at Epstein Brown LLP in early 2007 and has remained with Epstein & Associates. She is presently practising law solely in the areas of Family Law and Child Protection. Su-Lin has extensive Court experience, appearing regularly before the Superior Court to argue complex Motions and for Trial.  She has a knack for dealing with highly contested Custody and Access matters.  Su-Lin has been appointed as a Panel Presenter by the Newmarket Superior Court and in this capacity will provide information to the public with respect to Family Law and the Courts.

Tinnish K. Andersen obtained a Bachelor of Applied Arts (B.A.A.) with a concentration in photography from Ryerson University. Ms. Andersen obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. Ms. Andersen is fluent in English, French and German.

 

After being called to the Ontario Bar, Ms. Andersen worked as a sole practitioner in Toronto, assisting clients with negotiated settlements, and representing clients' interests through the Court process, when necessary.

 

Ms. Andersen joined Epstein & Associates in 2012, and currently practices Family Law, Criminal Law and Landlord/Tenant matters.

 

Ms. Andersen is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and the York Region Law Association. She resides in Toronto. Her interests outside of law include her Wheaten Terrier, photography, golf and working out at the gym.

Peter Roupas attended Brock University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with first class Honours in Neuroscience. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School.

After graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School, Peter articled with Simpson Wigle Law LLP, a prominent full service firm in Hamilton. During his articles Peter gained valuable experience in Litigation, Corporate/Commercial, Tax, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates. Upon being called to the Bar, he practiced law at a mid-size Brampton law firm.

 

Peter is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the York Region Law Association, as well as, the Hellenic Canadian Lawyers' Association. Peter presently practices in the areas of Family law, Real Estate, Corporate/ Commercial, Wills and Estates, and Labour/Employment law. In addition Peter is available to assist you in various administrative and general litigation matters.

 

Peter is a creative negotiator committed to the fair and reasonable resolution of matters by way of various alternate dispute resolution methods or direct interaction with opposing counsel. He takes a practical, no-nonsense approach to matters with a view to the quick resolution of the issues and the minimization of client costs.

ROY S. HWANG

Roy Hwang attended the University of Toronto, where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Materials Engineering. As an engineer, Roy worked in the computer and automotive industries before going on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.

Prior to joining Epstein & Associates in 2010, Roy gained extensive experience in the litigation department of a full-service North York firm. He also consulted for a renewable energy systems company, working on technology development and patenting.

 

Roy's practice includes Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law, Family Law, and Real Estate. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the York Region Law Association.
